"Penelope" dress and blouse digital sewing pattern

This design was inspired by the fabulous dresses from the regency era and a certain series 👀. I put a modern twist on it by making the dress shorter and by adding a long sleeve and cropped blouse option.

The pattern features puff bishop sleeves (long and short versions available), a lace-up back closure (no zipper, yayyy) and a super cute gathered back that is very slightly longer. The cuff of the long sleeve can be sewn with or without a button and loop closure, depending on your preference. The pattern includes 4 versions for you to choose from:

- Dress w/ short sleeves

- Dress w/ long sleeves

- Blouse w/ short sleeves

- Blouse w/ long sleeves

I love how versatile the “Penelope” pattern is just by changing the fabric. With a simple light and airy fabric, it’s the perfect summer dress or blouse and makes you feel super cute with the tiniest touch of royalty.

With a more fancy fabric, the dress/blouse becomes a perfect garment for attending a wedding or any other more fancy occasion. You can even lengthen the skirt to a midi length, if you would like a more modest dress.

Materials Needed

- Main fabric: Light- to medium-weight woven cotton or linen that can hold some structure, depending on how puffy and voluminous you want the sleeves and skirt to look. Other fibers might also work, just make sure the fabric is not too flowy.

- Fusible interfacing tape

- Matching thread
